I really loved working with Barrie and Liz, it was great to get to know them over the course of this project and this project meant a lot to everyone involved. Even though this is my first heritage website design project, at times it didn’t seem like we were ever going to complete it. With any website migration project, you must always ensure you retain all of the history that the search engines have. So, as with all of my builds and projects, the first step is to process the site through ScreamingFrog in order to build a picture and to create a technical SEO audit. If you’re not using this tool then you really need to be. It’s industry leading SEO spider software trusted by many SEOs and SEO agencies worldwide for all of their technical SEO audits. You can download the free version which is limited to a max crawl-depth of 500 pages.

Overall the WordPress plugin stack was light, the majority of a very content heavy website such as this one just needs to be solid in terms of website stability. A key part of the design was the vertical timeline, anything heritage website related will undoubtedly require this visual functionality and I found the Piotnet Addons For Elementor very suited to delivering this for me. I went the extra mile and deployed a White Label CMS to ensure Barrie and Liz had a nice clean, minimal interface when they wanted to update the site. Ninja Forms, Site Kit By Google, GDPR Cookie Consent, Yoast SEO and Elementor were the main plugins stack. Oh and as WordPress wipes the floor with many other CMS’s, it was always a top moonfruit competitor in my eyes #nobrainer!.
